Fashion Fiesta Wrapped In A Week
By Gaurav Doshi
Creative sensational from different parts of the world taking style, beauty and definition of fashion to its edge, promotional linchpin of a multibillion-dollar industry, I am talking about nothing else but Fashion Weeks. Fashion weeks are hallmarks of fashion industry to rollout the new season feel in fashion. They generally last up to a week allowing fashion designers, artists and fashion houses to display their latest collection. It hallmarks next seasons in things, that's why it is very important for buyers, media, celebrities and entertainment industry who take that fashion among the general public.
The most famous fashion weeks are held at Fashion Mecca Paris, Milan, London and New York. Since the new millennium fashion weeks are held in different parts of the world to put the local fashion on the world map and making a packed fashion calendar throughout the year. A refreshing sense of national identity and pride has emerged from the achievements of fashion sector - something that was otherwise traditionally been restricted to feats of sporting prowess, adding that its benefits go well beyond the fashion world (Emling 2006).
Fashion weeks are held several months in advance giving chance to designers, media and buyers to preview the trend for the next season. Fashion weeks are bi-annual events; the fashion weeks conducted between January and March are called “fall fashion weeks” whereas the one conducted in September through November are called “Spring Fashion Weeks”. Some fashion weeks can be genre-specific, such as a Miami Fashion Week (Swimwear), PrĂȘt-a-Porter (ready-to-wear) Fashion Week, Couture (one-of-a-kind designer original) Fashion Week, Palm Springs Fashion Week (Resort Collections) and Bridal Fashion Week.
History
Omission of fashion week history would be curious at this point of time. Let me throw some light on that. Edna Woodman Chase—former editor of Vogue organized "Fashion Fete," in 1914 to benefit the war-relief effort which is often apocryphally called the first fashion show ever. By the 1920s, the fashion show had gone mainstream. Early shows were often more theatrical than those of today.

Cricut Design Studio - What You Can and Can't Do With It!
By Chris Stilez
Cricut Design Studio is a software package that gives you greater design power with Cricut content. You can affect the look of any Cricut image by resizing it, rotating it, flipping it, stretching it or skewing it. You can even weld from any combination of cartridge sets, the only limit is your imagination.
When you load your Cricut design studio software, you'll see 4 main components: the virtual mat where your work is displayed, the Cricut cartridge library, the virtual key-pad overlay and the shape properties window.
The library contains content of every Cricut cartridge released. As more come out, you'll be able to update your library so that you can always have new tools for your creations. You're free to design with all the cartridges in the design studio library but you can only cut with the cartridges that you own. The library can be used to help you explore content from the cartridges that you don't own, so use it as a tool to help you find what you love!
Searching through the library is easy. The Cricut cartridge library lets you list cartridge set in whatever order you choose from a drop-down menu. You can organize your library list alphabetically by favorites, by category or by cartridges that you own. You can also search through the library by using keywords (tip: when you do a search by keyword, the simpler the search word, the better!) and the auto-filler function anticipates what you might be looking for and gives you suggestions.
As you cycle through your search results, the virtual overlay changes to show which cartridge set and feature your search result is found in. This method makes it easier to find what you want quickly. You can also customize what shows in the virtual overlay if you decide that what it shows for your keyword isn't accurate.
The key-pad overlay is nearly identical with the actual overlays you put on your Cricut machine. On the left, there are the six feature buttons, the "shift-lock" button, and the space/backspace buttons. When the shift-lock buttons are engaged, they are highlighted just like on the Cricut machine. As you hover your mouse pointer over your image keys, they will enlarge slightly to show you which image key you're about to select.
Working with virtual mat is as intuitive as it gets. When you have chosen the shape you want to work with, it will show up on the virtual mat with selection handles. Selection handles are the 8 circles that show on the corners and sides of your shape. The majority of your image crafting will be done using these handles, as you play with them you will discover the possibilities that open up for your creative mind.

Outdoor Fashion
What to Look For in Outdoor Boots
By Janet Chua
Hiking is both an exciting an enjoyable hobby. There are many things that you are going to need if you want to become fully equipped for hiking, most especially if you plan to go on a long tread. Some of the essentials that you should have on your list are water, a walking stick, some snacks, but a good pair of outdoor boots should be at the top of your list. It's absolutely the most important part of your hiking gear, because you will surely go faster, farther, and more comfortably if you are equipped with the proper footwear.
There is much more to purchasing good, reliable, and quality outdoor boots than just going to your local store and selecting the most attractive pair of boots on the rack. It doesn't really matter where you buy them, or how often you plan to use them. What's important is you choose the best hiking boots as it will make a huge difference in your comfort and safety.
In your quest for the perfect hiking boots, you need to consider the kind of hiking that you plan to do. There are various boots designed for different purposes - climbing mountain trails, for treading on smooth trails, and for climbing high trails on tough terrain. There are also special boots that are intended for use during summer and winter. It's no fun wearing summer hiking boots during winter. Keep in mind that purchasing an additional pair of boots may initially hurt your wallet but good quality boots that are well maintained and properly cared for will surely last longer - and you will most probably end up saving more money in the long run. High quality outdoor boots are priced between $90 to $250 or more. There are rare instances when you will find a good bargain below that price range, but it's best not to count on it.
When shopping for hiking boots, it pays to give due attention to brand names, but you should know that the best sellers doesn't necessarily offer the best quality. There are some great brands that only a few know because they don't offer a huge volume or line of shoes. To determine the difference between exaggerated brand reputation and high quality brands, talk to some friends who have years of hiking experience, or read online reviews from those who have actually used the boots that you are interested in purchasing.
Choose hiking boots that are made with a sturdy sole. This will prevent your boots from falling apart when you hike on rough grounds or uneven paths. A sturdy sole will also help prevent injury to your feet should you step on any sharp thorns or stones while hiking. If you're concerned about developing blisters, select a pair of shoes that have great cushioning on the insole. The sides of the shoes should also give enough support to help protect your ankles from being twisted.
Whether you plan to go to your favorite outdoor spot for an afternoon hike or you plan to go camping for an extended period of time, having the right outdoor boots is really important.

Fashion Design Internship
By Jennifer Bailey
The impressive growth of the fashion industry and the resultant intense competition in the market has made fashion design internship immensely significant. It is significant not only for the candidates seeking internship in different companies, but also for the companies taking them. The objective of the two might be different but it has contributed to the growth of internship programs for budding fashion designers.
Fashion design internships help companies get the ready availability of skilled and fashion educated candidates. These candidates, with their knowledge, bring value to the companies in a cost effective way, as their salaries are relatively low.
For the fashion design candidates the internships offer an opportunity to get a first hand experience of the fashion design industry. They view this experience important for their career. The experience gives them an edge, which they can use to their advantage once they enter the industry. Very often, the interns end up getting full time employment opportunities in the company.
Companies offer internship programs for different duration. Some have continuous programs while others offer seasonal ones such as the summer internship, which is generally from the month of May to September. They can be for national as well as international students with definite eligibility criteria.
The information about the internship programs conducted by different companies is available on websites and the candidates can register for them online. The websites have a database of all the companies looking for fashion design interns.
The internship can be paid, unpaid or college credit internship. In some cases, internships are in combination with online courses. The students are also equipped with the course related information while executing their internship. The course keeps the students abreast of the latest trends in the realm of fashion design during the internship.
The interns need to fill out the application form for the internship program. The submission dates of these forms can be different for different companies.
A fashion design internship is ideal for the passionate fashion design students to get an insight into the fashion industry. It also enhances the skill of the students by exposing them to a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Fashion University
Fashion Rules Delhi University Students
By Jasdeep Kaur
Thousands of youngsters enter and exit the prestigious corridors of Delhi University every year. And every year there are hundreds of things that are 'in' and hundreds others that are 'out' in the fashion circuits of the city. The sudden taste of freedom that is at once thrilling and intimidating, the gradually mounting sense of responsibility and the unstoppable spirit to carve out a niche for oneself are there in every aspect of life. No matter even if it is fashion!
Bidding adieus to the monochromatic and monotonous life of school uniforms, youngsters revel in the new-founded freedom to dress as they please. Short kurtas (or popularly called 'kurtis'), broad belts, stretchable jeans, cool goggles and long hair rule any college campus in Delhi University of the day. Myriad colours and hues make their own statement with respect to its wearer and of course with respect to the old adage that goes - 'Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'!
Here's an overview of things that have been 'in' this year. This year has seen a come back of the Seventies retro trends. Big goggles, slacks paired with long tops, frilly accessories, hair-bands, chunky jewellery and flat shoes have all arrived on the scene again when it comes to the female fashion circuit. In the male world, long hippie style haircuts and loose Bermudas with short tops have hit the scene and are here to stay for some time. With splashes of pinks and reds, men are beginning to explore areas of the colour palette hitherto labelled as feminine.
Year in and year out, whether certain thing are in or out, the fact that remains is that the only thing constant in Delhi University campuses is change. Fresh faces with fresh fashion statements will keep thronging the corridors of the university with still fresh ideas and aspirations in the years to come.

By Priyanka Arora
We all know Ashley Tisdale as the over spoiled, designer hungry Sharpey Evans from the High School Musical and its sequel. However, what is Ashley Tisdale's real life fashion style? It is much more accessible and much more laid back.
While growing up, Ashley tells us that she has worked at Wet Seal, Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch. She is definitely not a stranger to the fashion industry. Her personal style depends on what she feels like doing that particular day, which usually ranges from really chic and couture and really casual. Clothes, for her, makes a statement, on how she feels that day and how she wants to express herself.
Her definite wardrobe must have is sweatshirts and sweatpants. She says that she loves wearing them all the time when she is not working. For her shoes, she prefers flats because they are really comfortable.
If you take a peek in her closet, she reveals that her closet is just overly messy. With brands like Free City sweats, Scoop the store, 2B Free, Rebel Yell sweats, Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch and James Perse.
Ashley is not shy in splurging in purses and sunglasses, because she loves aviators. However, she stresses that she is the budget shopper master, making sure she buys a lot of inexpensive stuff instead of buying just one expensive item.
Ashley gives young girls a fashion advice which is to learn how to mix and match. The key to a perfect outfit is to know how to put different stuff together and learning how to accessorize. If you mix and match a lot, you can come up with a whole lot of new different outfits.

Evening Dresses
Buying Lovely Evening Dresses at Affordable Prices
One of the most important and vital decisions you will face at some point in your life is choosing the ideal evening dress. The actual process of shopping can be a lovely and challenging adventure. Amidst the overall overwhelming task of shopping for something special, a woman might have to deal with stressful conditions.Evening dresses can be used at proms, at receptions, at special nights out or at weddings. Evening dresses are usually purchased before choosing any complementing apparel. Therefore the choice should be the result of thorough and serious consideration.
If you are on a budget or money is an issue, you can benefit from the numerous evening dress sale events that take place all year long. They are usually held a few times a year, mostly at the end of every season. They are events at which major or smaller manufacturers and retail stores offer gowns and evening dresses to create more space for the new collection and inventory. Prices are usually very affordable and reasonable, as the discounts are huge. There are impressive deals to be found even if you opt for designer evening dresses. In these cases, some of the most renowned and elegant fashion houses offer their clothes and dresses up to half the price.
In order to get the best possible selection, you need to get information on where the event is taking place. Try to acquire some information on the particular procedures and details regarding the event. Keep in mind that most major shops have women lined up outside for many hours waiting to get as many great deals as they can. Smaller or local stores feature smaller selections and hold the event for a few days or even a week.
Whether you are buying a simple evening gown or an expensive dress, the selection criteria are the same. You need to keep the theme in mind. Is it a particular formal occasion, or something you may need at some point and you want to be prepared? Narrow down your options so as to concentrate on the evening dresses that bring out and designate your beauty and style. Keep an open mind, though. Even if you go online and do an initial research you might not find the exact same cuts and dresses you had bookmarked.
If going to a sample evening dress event or a store with a fixed idea, you might leave empty handed. Do not waste valuable time on unflattering designs and styles, especially since time is usually limited and stores tend to be rather hectic. Be prepared, but also flexible. You might come across a versatile dress that could be used on different occasions, allowing you to be very well dressed and very beautiful.
Consider your body type, choose something that makes you look nice and sexy, and why not voluptuous and curvy if that is your style. Evening dresses are supposed to be the focal point of a woman's wardrobe, because they are feminine, special and intriguing. ( C A)

Famous People and Hairstyles through the Years
By Rachael Taylor
Hairstyles date back hundreds of years and generally reflected what was happening socially at the time. Hairstyles have gone through many changes over the past several decades. The one consistency has been that the hairstyles that were worn by icons of popular culture symbolized what was thought to be the ideal. To find out more about the inspiration for particular hairstyles over the last century, read on.
In the early 1900’s wealthy women set the standard of wearing hair jewels and hats with veils and lace. They dusted their hair with gold and silver powders for the nights. Antoine of Paris created a look of hair parted in middle and swept back in smooth bands over the ears. In 1907 the Marcel wave swept the United States and Europe. In 1910 American nurses in Europe cut their hair short to avoid a flea infestation and the women in America began to cut their hair short for fashion.
The Louise Brooks’s bob became the popular hairstyle in the 1920’s as women began to express their freedom. They also began shedding their corsets to enter the workforce and in 1931 Jean Harlow starred in the movie “Platinum Blonde.” This hair color then swept the nation. Also in the 1930’s, Shirley Temple’s ringlet curls had women of all ages pinning their own hair into tight curls.
During WWII when feminine was ideal, women began copying Hollywood hairstyles. In the 1940’s, Rita Hayworth began the hairstyle trend of side-parted finger waves the sexiest style of that time. Veronica Lake and her cascading blonde hair defined glamour.
The 1950’s brought a trend of highlighting and Lucille Ball’s flaming red hair was an example. Also Doris Day had a helmet like hairstyle that inspired her fans and Audrey Hepburn started the pixie cut.
During the 1960’s people were letting their hair down and the rock group The Beatles, wore their hair long. This ended the gender norm in hairstyles. The Beatle look became a very popular hairstyle for men of all ages.
In the 1970’s, the musical “Hair” came out during a time of sexual revolution. Angela Davis’s afro became a symbol for black pride. One of the most copied hairstyles of the 1970’s was the Farrah Fawcett feathered back hairdo.
The 1980’s were an economic boom and women began the mall bang trend. Big hair and poodle perms were the big thing.
The 1990’s found many women heading to the hair salons looking for the Jennifer Aniston hairstyle. Her hair at the time was an angled, layered, shag haircut. And the millennium brought Sarah Jessica Parker’s flowing curly look back into style.

How to Win Pageant Contests
By Chantelle Porter
Do you want to know how to win pageant contests with flying colors? Most people think that only the best looking contestants win beauty pageant contests, and that all you need is a good appearance. This is not the case. The judges are actually looking for a well dressed contestant, which also have inner beauty, and are bright and knowledgeable. If you would like to know the top tips to help you win your next pageant, then read on.
The key to knowing how to win pageant contestants is preparation. Make sure you get all your outfits and hair styles sorted long before the pageant itself. The last thing you want is to end up panic buying a dress that you don't feel comfortable in. Choose something that you feel totally comfortable in, as you'll feel much more confident when you show it off in front of everyone!
Once you have got your outfits, you then should try to get your body in top condition. Get into an exercise routine, and eat lots of healthy foods. Not only will your clothes appear better on you, you'll also feel much more alert and focussed on the inside. A highly prepared mental state will give you an edge on your competition, and you'll feel on top of the world when it comes to the day of the pageant.
Another tip about how to win pageant contests, is to ace the interview round. This is where the contest is won or lost, so is very important you practise as many pageant interview questions as possible, before the pageant. The judges can ask you a wide variety of questions, which can be simply about yourself, or more complex, though provoking questions that often don't have one right answer.
